PDNA GUIDELINES VOLUME B - Gender

The main goal of conducting a Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) is to assist governments to assess the full extent of a disasterís impact on the country and, on the basis of these findings, to produce an actionable and sustainable Recovery Strategy for mobilizing financial and technical resources. A PDNA is a government-led exercise, with integrated support from the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the World Bank (WB) and other national and international actors. A PDNA gathers information into a single, consolidated report with information on the physical impacts of a disaster, the economic value of the damages and losses, the human impacts as experienced by the affected population, and the resulting early and long-term recovery needs and priorities.
