The Recovery Status Report presents the general concepts of the earthquake disaster recovery programs with some specific case studies on important topics, including the involvement of stakeholders, the development model of post-disaster recovery, and the influence of the development model on society and the recovery process. The International Recovery Platform (IRP) Secretariat conducted a survey in Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas in 2006 just after the earthquake struck, and revisited the same area in 2008 to assess the recovery status. The results showed that the recovery process had been proceeding smoothly due to the sincere commitment and contributions of all relevant stakeholders. The Secretariat concluded that valuable recovery lessons might be discovered through a more in-depth review.
